Wanting to know what we do with llama's?
- Inspiration can come from many sources such was the case with our “Llama Llama” project”. A funky collection of embellishment stickers, which Darrell stumbled across, became the inspiration for bigger and better things.
The journey has now begun: ideas, light bulb moments from Michelle and others: Llamas can be made from fabric to be placed on bags, cushions, the possibilities are endless. Hence, the Llama Llama project (Michelle came up with the name) has taken its first step.
This would be a wonderful project for those with a disability to get involved in. It is very important that things are organised to make the process as easy as possible for all involved, especially for those in the creative disability crew. This is where I come in:! Choosing & sorting beautiful fabrics both plain and patterned and cutting the pieces to size. We need large fabrics for the background, smaller pieces for the Llama’s rugs and rounded, patterned pieces for the carry sacks. Each piece of fabric must be sorted and placed into labelled bags. I also drew two different sized Llamas and made templates.

One of our volunteer sewers helped to cut out our very first Llamas! We chose colourful tassels and ribbons to finish off our arrangements which were then pinned and ready to be sewn by our lovely team of volunteer machinists at home as we do not sew on site..
As you can see, there are many steps and many diligent hands that go into making a finished product ready for sale in our store. We hope you agree, it will all be worth it and we hear there is a Llama Farm that may be keen to sell them..
Who knows?
