GOLF FACILITY VISION
by Jill Keating (GPAI Creative Volunteer and Local Artist) June 2018
Darrell Dalton's vision of a state of the art golf facility was brought to life recently by some of our disability support team.
Josiah (with his mum Jenny) arrived at our GPAI Creative store with a sparkle in his eye and a grin the size of Nambour. He was keen to show everyone his amazing plywood creation- a collage depicting GPAI’s golf facility vision, complete with a driving range, putt-putt, café barista, retail shop, swimming pool, nursery/garden section, function room, storage sheds, car wash, car park and roads, which linked each area together.
Josiah, Dennis, Lachlan and Renee eagerly helped to further embellish Josiah’s collage whilst Jenny and I helped and supervised. Ideas came thick and fast and it wasn’t long before these ideas came to life on the collage;. Golf balls and a collection bucket were added to the driving range section, drinks in the café section, cars were cut out from fabric and glued onto the road in the car park, windows and doors were added to the funky cardboard storage sheds, and trees were added to the green area. Every one did their part: Dennis drew one of the figures, Renee and Lachlan carefully arranged and glued, whilst Josiah finished it off with a big bang by adding more of his celebratory fireworks!
At times becoming engrossed, Josiah, Dennis, Lachlan and Renee imagined with much enthusiasm, what they could do once Darrell's dream of a golf facility came to fruition.
“I can collect the golf balls from the driving range!”, “I can help wash the cars at the car wash!”, “I’m going to train to work in the nursery!”
Dreams can, and do, come true...
